[TIP 96] - Using Measures Placeholders within Formulas for Advanced Calculations

If you find yourself looking to calculate a value based on the different values across your data set rows - for example, how many students dropped from grade 1 to grade 2 and from grade 2 to grade 3 as demonstrated in the image below - look no further.

Using the new offset value for your measure placeholders within your formulas, you can now easily reference the same measure value from different rows. For example, in the case below it would be the number of students in the previous grade.

This new offset option is available starting from Dundas BI 6 and the setup details are listed here. Together with the existing Dundas BI period over period data tool, comparing values across different periods or categories is a task that can be easily done without complex data manipulations.
