[TIP 70] Using The Placeholder Keyword Menu To Define Text (Tooltip, Labels, Etc.)

When configuring a different value (than the default) for text elements such as tooltips and others, placeholder keywords can be of great use to ensure those text elements are dynamic and updating based on the current value.


Starting from Dundas BI 5, you no longer need to remember the placeholder keyword naming convention - instead, you can just insert into your text property the required placeholder keyword by choosing from a simple drop-down menu like so:

The placeholder keyword drop-down will expose all the relevant options for this specific visual property. The outcome will then look like this:

That dropdown in V5 is a major improvement on V4!


Is there any way to stop the text elements changing automatically when you add/remove metrics from a visualisation?
