[TIP 40] Identifying and Resolving Missing Data on a Map

When visualizing a certain metric set using a map visualization, it is possible that some of the geographic data (i.e. continent name) in your metric set won't match the expected names within the map resources (i.e. your continent name is set to Pacific instead of being set to Australia). Starting from Dundas BI 4, Dundas' Smart Visualization Engine will notify you about data points that don't match existing map resources (shapes).


This notification will be displayed on the status bar when re-visualizing to a map or when adding data to a new map visualization. If you see that notification, you can easily see which geographic data names don't correspond the the map shapes' names by opening the map visualization "missing names" property.


From there, one easy way to solve to ensure the missing names are aligned to known names, is to use the shape compatible name property under the relevant map shape that corresponds to the missing name as detailed under:
