time dimension use

My team currently uses the fiscal time dimension for all of our work, and I am aware that having different time dimension options set up helps use states/ filters / and other tools. I currently primarily am using the fiscal time dimension with day time period. I’d like to work with more options but am concerned about adding more, organizing, and keeping track of what type of data we’re using what for.

Does anyone commonly use a wide variety of time dimensions? how did you set this up / keep it organized? Any tips for this?

I’m also concerned about it being reusable by other people on our team or impacting previous dashboards we’ve created.

If you do not have a development sever to test thing new ideas then make a project that only you have access to the try making some new time dimensions in there before you make them in the master project.
or copy the one you want to change into it the make the changes to it and try it out kick its tires and see if it will work how you want it to before making those changes for the one every one is using.

I have made a few Time Dimensions and the only problem I can remember is realizing I needed to have day (or some other piece) or I didn’t need it. Being I was doing it in Dev project I just fixed it up before making it production.

we do have a dev environment! Thanks, this is helpful :slight_smile: I just use the fiscal time dimension with day, and that works for most of my purposes but for using states / tokens I’m thinking for full flexibility I need other dimensions… it might make sense to create some other ones, I just have’t really dived into it much yet.
