Rearranging order in stacked bar chart

Hi,

I have created a stacked bar chart and am looking to rearrange the order that it shows the different categories in.

I’ve tried to google it and have played around with everything I could find in the properties tool.

I would really appreciate some help on this!

Thanks,

Claudia

Hi Claudia

You can set the order in the hierarchy. Go to the data analysis panel and click on the pencil icon next to the orange category in the rows/columns.

Right at the bottom there is ‘custom hierarchy sorting’. Click that and you can add category members to the top/bottom of your list.

The fastest way to rearrange the order is using the sort option. In your metric set designer or in view mode on your dashboard, right click the stacked bar and choose the sort option and then the dimension you want to sort by.

If you wanted to control the order beyond the traditional sort then you can use custom hierarchy sorting to accomplish that. The setup for it is detailed here.

Hi,

Thanks, I’ve followed the instructions and it doesn’t seem to be changing the order of the categories within the stacked bar chart… I’ve tried both top and bottom overrides.

Any idea why this could be?

Thanks,

Claudia

Is it possible for you to show us a picture of this metric set? Also the setting that you made changes to, so we can see what been done. If you can it would be a great help for us to see what is going on.

As @james.davis mentioned correctly - a picture is worth a 1000 words in this case. Note you can also send this question directly to the support team in case you suspect the configuration isn’t working as expected.
