Re-use (save?) auto-color rules

I’ve learned how to create a gradient-colored column in a table, as I’m trying to do. However, I have 10+ measures and need a way to apply the auto-color rule I’ve created to all columns.

Is there a way to “save” the auto-color rule and apply it to other columns? Or perhaps another tool that will help me create gradient-colored columns?

If specifics are needed, I simply want negative values to be shades of red, positives to be shades of green, and the middle to be yellow-ish (between red and green). Nothing fancy, but just not the default blues that the auto-color rule provides.

Thanks!
Ken

@ken hi Ken, color rules are actually associated with the series, and cannot be re-used. There are fundamental reasons for this, because each series would have very different values, therefore, color rules based on value condition cannot be shared since the values are not the same.

Thanks, Jay.

So to my second question, is there a better tool for this job? In my case, all values are normalized (e.g. they are all z-scores, so they typ range from -3 to 3) and hence should all be colored the same way.

@ken
I see. In this case, state style can be a better fit, since states can be used for multiple columns as long as it’s on the same metricset:

The state style can work, I’d have to make quite a few states to get decent color gradients, but it can be done.

Jeff also has a video on heat maps that I hadn’t seen before but may work. I’m playing with it, so not sure if it’ll do the trick yet or not.
