Questions about how to layer bars in a chart

Center6 video examples.pdf

Hi,

I watched this video with great fascination and would very much like to know more about how Kris Brady did some of the things she did with DBI.

In particular, I would like to know how she was able to overlay bars as in the attached examples from the video.

I would like to have with period over period and last year to date on the gray bars and current YTD on the colored bar. Can you tell me how to do this, please!

Also a follow-up to this video with more explanations of the how-to's would be fabulous.

Sandi,

I'm out of the office until Friday. I'll send you an explanation of those two charts as soon as I can.

P.S. You'll be surprised at how simple this is; this biggest codicil is that your data has to be in the proper format (but isn't that always the case?). :)

Kris

Kris,

That's great! I was actually trying to figure out a way to contact you directly - had no idea it would be this easy.

I look forward to hearing more.

In the meantime (until you can connect with Kris), I can provide a pointer on how to overlay the bars. This is done with 2 properties - for example, if you have 2 series , open the second series properties and then the layout tab. Here you can change the "Custom Side-By-Side-Position" to 1 (at this point the series will overlay) and then the "Gap Width" property to 170% or similar (at this point the width of the second series will be smaller than the first series so it doesn't hide in case the value is bigger in the second series.

Worked great - thanks!
