Performance Improvement

Hello all,

I want to know if there are some some settings of Dundas Instance, Dundas server or SQL server to improve the performance of the dashboards?

I followed all the tips from the Dundas site and I feel the boost  :

  1. https://www.dundas.com/support/support-center/support-articles/performance/building-dashboards-with-performance-in-mind
  2. https://www.dundas.com/Support/learning/documentation/cleanse-consolidate-modify-data/data-cube-storage-types
  3. https://www.dundas.com/Support/learning/documentation/appendix-troubleshooting/viewing/viewing-performance-measurements

I have all cubes in memory and the server is dedicated for Dundas. Can I prioritize some process?
Or maybe some settings from from the “Config Panel” from the instance?
I only changed the “Result Cache Absolute Expiration” from 20 minutes to 1 hour.

Thank you in advance!

As well as the settings, you can also consider the data itself. If you strip away columns or rows that you never use, the data queries will run faster too. I see that this is in the first link you post, but it is worth mentioning again. Even better is to remove the unnecessary data even before loading into BI.

Another thing that I found is that data in a database connection runs faster than data in an uploaded Excel file.

Thank you @david.glickman!
I followed all the steps from the links and what you said is very important for a better performance.
Inside Dundas BI settings of the instance, there are some settings related the cache, cores etc.
I don’t find any information on the web site about the settings of the instance.

Hi Costin,

There are a lot of cache settings in the config but unless you are looking for something very specific these probably aren’t going to help you with performance.

Each of these have a built in description if you want to learn more.

Thank you @jeff!

I thought I could find something more detailed about this settings.

No worries @costin.manea. If you find any of them unclear and you want more information, come find me, i’ll go right to the guy who programmed it and get you a detailed explanation.
