How to best fix "template assigned to this dashbard is not found"

I seem to have renamed and/or rearranged myself out of a template the was used for a Dashboard so each time I open it tells me the layout will be rearranged, etc. and then the dashboard shows up. The message will be misleading/confusing for my users though so I need to figure out the best way to fix this. I’ve got a couple ideas but none have worked so far. Suggestions appreciated.

And I won’t be deleting any more templates now that I finally have my projects and test/production instances figured out.

  1. Is there a way to remove a template layer without having to remake the entire dashboard? I cannot seem to delete it from the LAYERS.
  2. Is there way to copy an item without including the template? (I do know how to do a straight up copy/paste of the object.)
  3. My last ditch would be to re-create the dashboard. I’m hoping there is a way around that.

Removing the template is actually very simple, just press the button on the toolbar (I know, it's easy to miss it).Image title

You will also notice that there are two other template-related options that appear after you have cleared the templet.Image title

There is no way to copy without the template, but the simplicity of the process should make up for that. Hope this helps.

Well, that is super nice to know!

It's too late for this case since I already recreated the dashboard that was having the trouble, but I consider that to be practice and now I know I won’t have to do it again in future should I accidently get overzealous with my DEL key.

One more question on templates:

I’ve updated my basics (base) template that only had a company logo on it, now adding in tile navigation. I made sure to check it back in.

However this does not show up on any of the pages/dashboards that I’ve created though. I even tried this super helpful trick of “clear template” and then “use existing template” on my current pages/dashboards to try to add it back in. I still only see what I would call the first draft of the template with just the image logo.

Is there something else I need to do if I want to modify an existing template and see the changes propagated to anything that is using that template?

That's strange, I just tried and it seems to work as expected - without any additional steps. The dashboards using the template reflect the changes automatically.

I will ask someone from our Support team to follow up with you and try to replicate this.
