Often times when you create a new visual, you know exactly what type of measures and dimensions you need to use for it. In that scenario, you are not really exploring data and trying to discover new insight, you are just creating new defined visuals and you want to get there as fast as possible.
Since Dundas BI is designed to help users find more insight out of their data, the default behavior of any data operation is to fire back a query that will update the data request.
That means that sometimes, you need to wait a few moments until the new data results comes back. But if you know exactly what you want to create, you can avoid the wait time simply by using the “freeze” option within your metric set designer tool bar or under any visual “data tools” menu. Clicking on this freeze option will allow you to drag measures and dimensions into the data analysis panel, apply filter and do other data related changes without forcing a new data retrieval on every change.
Finally when ready, you can hit the freeze button again and then get the visual rendered with your final data settings.
