I'm new to Dundas and have been figuring out how to get some stuff done that I needed to do. So I got the stuff created in MyProject. Now I just want to move a metric set and Dashboard to a shared project area I created. Is it even possible to do this? It won't let me drag and drop stuff into a shared folder. I think there MUST be a way to do this and I'm just too much of a newbie to figure it out even after doing lots of searching through Dundas support docs.
Copy something from MyProject to another Project
Welcome to Dundas, Stephanie, it's great to have you here!
Moving files between projects in Dundas BI is referred to as Publishing in the user interface. An easy place to find this option is in the Explore panel, make sure the file is checked in and right click to see the context menu:
An alternative option you can use is Copy, which you can also see in the screenshot above. With the file copied, change to the target project, right-click the target folder, and select Paste. When using this option, please be aware that you are moving only the file, without any required dependencies such as the data connector, so additional steps may be required to insure it is working properly.
Hope this helps!
Thank you! It appears that even when I think something is checked in, it really isn't and I have to click on Check In. When I do that, I can publish. Whoo Hooo! :-)
Your work is auto-saved periodically and after certain actions, but that is different from the Check In functionality. Saving ensures you do not lose your work, while you check in for version control and to allow other users to see your work.
You can find some more information in the article Check in, check out, and outo saving.
Glad you can publish. Let me know if you have more questions!
